Network Manager attempts to keep an active network connection available at all times. The point of Network Manager is to make networking configuration and setup as painless and automatic as possible. Whilst it was originally targeted at desktops, it has more recently been chosen as the default network management software for some non-Debian server-oriented Linux distributions.Package: network-manager Version: 0.9.10.0-6 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, After upgrading network-manager to 0.9.10.0-6 I have problem with connecting to PPTP VPN.plasma-nm shows only that "Connection to "name of profile" is now deactivated." I noticed that problem occurs only with new created VPN profiles.
elementary OS starts to connect and after a few seconds just shows a popup with message "The VPN connection '...' failed". The log in file /var/log/syslog says: VPN connection 'XXXXX' (Connect) reply received. I would still like to know why it doesn't worked with the built-in client. But I just found out that the Shrew Soft VPN client is available through the Software Center. :-) I use the newest elementare OS (updated few minutes ago).I used my desktop normally on Friday, but when I booted it up on Saturday (yesterday), there was no Wi Fi icon in the icon tray and there is now no network connection.I believe I installed some updates on Friday before shutting down.
